March Biggest Wireless Recycle Month, Ever

Trade-ineRecyclingCorps (eRC) managed more than 550,000 wireless device trade-ins in March 2012,  with a more than 300% increase over trade-in volume in March 2011.

eRC worked with major wireless carriers and retailers across North America and Europe. While this is great sign for Earth Day, it also shows that users are upgrading. eRC most popular program is rewarding consumers with instant, in-store credit for wireless device trade-in.

Because cell phones and smartphones contain harmful chemicals, please be sure to dispose of them properly.

eRC refurbishes devices which it calls a renewed device. Renewed devices are resold in the U.S. and in emerging markets, where they offer consumers access to the latest mobile technology at lower costs.  The program is a partnership with five of the eight leading carriers in North America, including Sprint, Verizon and Telus, as well as several European operators and more than 1,200 European stores.

"Carriers are starting to understand the benefits of recycling programs to build brand leadership. eRecyclingCorps takes it to the next level by offering instant, in-store financial incentives to consumers, which can reduce churn and increase revenue while making device upgrades more affordable for customers," said William Stofega, program director for mobile device technology and trends at IDC Energy Insights. "Given eRecyclingCorps' rapid expansion over the past year and their scalable carrier-grade model, I expect they will continue to thrive."
