AT&T announced it added LTE service to twelve more metros in April. After the launch AT&T LTE data service will cover 28 markets and a population of 74 million.

There were reports of brief data outage by Verizon Wireless customers, this morning and 4G service is now restored.
Update 03/14/12: There appears to be a 3G data outage for iPhones and smartphones in the Northeast/Mid Alantic. Read details and fixes.
First on Twitter, Verizon reported "VZW is investigating customer issues in connecting to the 4GLTE data network. 3G data, voice and text services are operating reliably." However, we're hearing reports that 3G is down for customers as well in some areas."
Verizon later reported that "After a brief issue this morning, 4G LTE service is fully restored" in a subsequent Tweet.
Verizon Wireless is busy offering deals and expanding its 4G LTE network in the New England and launched 4G LTE in Columbus, Mississippi.
Tonight, Verizon Wireless will add 4G LTE networks in four new metros that will have the incentive of the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX buy-one-get-one free deal as well as double data.
Verizon claims that 200 million people in 196 markets across the United States can take advantage of the Verizon’s 4G LTE network with a wide variety of 4G LTE devices. Expanded and newmarkets are in upstate New York, South Dakota, Tennese, Texas and Arkansas.

A new Signals Research study showed just how efficient wireless networks are and how the best speeds are achieved. Sometimes DC-HSDPA offered better download speeds than 4G LTE. However, the upload speeds for 4G LTE could not be beat.
The report found that all technologies performed as expected and as advertised by the operators. They did notice faster 4G LTE speeds in the Houston which could be due to it being a new network with fewer customers. The chipset of the phone, modem or tablet does effect speeds.
