Verizon Outage Explained for 4G LTE Network that Exceeded Expectaions

On Wednesday, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers experienced a data outage. Today,Verizon Wireless issued a statement and the outages technical glitches were explained and analysed.  Phone calls, texts and other functions continued to operate. 

The network experienced "growing pains" from issues that were "regrettable" and "unforeseeable."

John Byrne, analyst with International Data Corp noted because it is the largest active 4G LTE network, you're going to have some hiccups, while it still could be a big problem for the company.

Basically, the outage was caused problems in the delivery core that is replacing the old core for 2G/3G networking.  The new delivery core uses for the first time " IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)" in which software bug which caused the first outage in April.

The 4G LTE network of Verizon Wireless experienced problems in some cities, today. There could be data disconnections for devices such as the, Galaxy Nexus Droid Charge, Droid RAZR, Pantech Breakout, Samsung Stratosphere, HTC ThunderBolt, HTC Rezound, 4G tablets, and USB modems. If you are Verizon 4G LTE customer, don't panic. A few setting changes will enable 3G data access.

There are outages reported in New York City, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toledo, and Portland.

Update 12/39/2011: We've received word from Verizon spokesman Tom Pica, "4G LTE issue resolved overnight. 3G operated normally; calling, texting were unaffected."

Verizon 4G LTeSome Verizon Wireless LTE customers  had problems connecting to the network last night and early this morning.

4G LTE devices such the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Droid Charge, Droid RAZR, Pantech Breakout, Samsung Stratosphere, HTC ThunderBolt, HTC Rezound and 4G tablets or USB modems were unable to connect to the LTE network. The outage was not in all areas of the country.  3G data and voice devices are unaffected.

Verizon has been rated by Consumer Reports as the best customer service and they have a reputation to uphold because now it looks like there is some kind of problem with 4G LTE data network for devices such as the Droid Charge, Droid RAZR, Pantech Breakout, Samsung Stratosphere, HTC ThunderBolt, HTC Rezound and 4G tablets or USB modems.

We have demo unit of a Verizon smartphone and which is experiencing problems in the wind-struck area of Southern California.  There have been reports all over the country of 4G not working while 3G seems to be fine.
