Best Cheapest Unlocked Smartphone: Nexus 4?

Nexus 4Today Google via its Android blog announced the Nexus 4, an unlocked pure Google Android 4.2 smartphone for $299 that will go on sale Tuesday, November 13.

Google with its release Nexus 4 by LG is the first super smartphone  to offer buyers the freedom to choose a carrier without signing up for another two-year plan at a reasonable price.

We were wondering why Google decided to use LG to make its latest smartphone.  Now we know why, Google with its Nexus 7 priced its tablet at the cheapest for the best specs when it was launched.  Now with the Nexus 4, Google again is pricing the Nexus 4 at the cheapest price for the highest specs.

Nexus 4While Google tried to create a storm of publicity for its latest round of next Nexus announcement, the company could not stop Mother Nature and Hurricane Sandy and has had to cancel its "Playground is Open" press event.

Google has not had very good luck with its announcements. Last year, it canceled its Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Nexus Prime) announcement due to the death of Steve Jobs.  It was believed that it would be in poor taste to compare the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the iPhone 4S while the world mourned the passing of Steve Jobs.

This year, we have almost every major wireless manufacturer make announcements in the month of October.  They are well aware of the fact that black Friday through the holidays is a great season of giving and profits. Unfortunately Google scheduled their announcement later than its competitors and on the wrong coast.
