Data and Smartphone Use Double Trouble, Says CTIA

cell towerCTIA has released its wireless survey results.

Network data more than doubled from 2010 t0 2011 with a 123% increase.  Smartphone use has increased 43% and wireless tablet use has increased 49% while the average monthly bill decreased 21 cents.

All the wireless and data usage could mean trouble if carriers can't expand their networks. The organization states that because of the explosive use of data the industry needs more spectrum.

Is the Smartphone Beta Test Really Over? Nokia Lumia 900 Update

It appears the smartphone beta test was not over for those who bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 who found themselves as part of a beta test of AT&T connectivity "issues."

There is now a software fix for the issue for the Nokia Lumia 900 which can be downloaded via Zune software. Owners also have the option of trading in the Nokia Lumia 900 handset for a new one.

According to Lab 42 the smartphone is now a dinner guest  and restaurant locator while dining out with 95% of respondents use their phones prior to going to a restaurant.

Before dinning out the smartphone is used for communicating dinning plans, searching for restaurants, viewing menus and for directions.

 Smartphone owners trust online reviews.  85% reported that they trust online reviews from fellow diner more than reviews from professionals and food websites.

The FCC and CTIA are working with police departments to thwart the black market by a stolen smartphone database, education, remote data wipe  and prevention.

Taking smartphones are like taking candy from a baby, the devices are small, worth up to $600 each and can be nabbed from a pocket/purse or coffee house table, easily.  They do have unique EMI numbers that will be traced in the future.
