Honorable Mention Smartphones at Verizon:
4. Palm Pre Plus - reviewers of the Palm Pre Plus, a portrait slider smartphone, all agreed that the webOS, Synergy and web browsing on the Palm Pre Plus are great. New customers with a contract can get it for one cent at Amazon Wireless, most likely for a limited time. We called our local Verizon store, and it is no longer available. RIP Palm Pre Plus. For a keyboard smartphone, we suggest the Droid 2 or Droid 2 Global instead.
4. BlackBerry Curve 3G - similar to the BlackBerry Curve 8530, this entry-level smartphone has been called decent for the price, with a an excellent QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, and 2-megapixel camera.
3. Samsung Fascinate - Samsung Galaxy S Phone that is user-friendly and elegantly designed, with a solid camera. Some
reviewers didn't like that Bing is the default search engine. Currently
available at Amazon Wireless for $39.99 with a new contract. If you like to be connected all the time, the Samsung Galaxy S Samsung Continuum has a ticker screen.
3. Droid 2 - The second generation Droid with a better keyboard and more speed. Reviewers liked the keyboard, bright touchscreen, and Motorola social networking features. The latest version, the Droid 2 Global with 1.2GHz processor, is selling for $39.99 at Amazon Wireless with a new contract.
2. Droid Incredible by HTC Verizon - Android smartphone with the full bells and
whistles of an 8-megapixel camera (with LED flash), 8 Gigabytes of
onboard storage, 3.7" OLED touchscreen, GPS, social-sync, FM radio and
Bluetooth. Reviewers liked the HTCSense interface for social networking and widgets. When the Droid Incredible was first released, it sold out within a few days. Currently, online retailer Amazon Wireless slashed the price of the Droid Incredible to one cent, with free activation (until 1/2/11). The Droid Incredible is also free online with free activation from Wirefly.
1. Droid X, Verizon - one of the hottest phones of the summer, reviewers called the 4.3-inch (WVGA 854 x 480) touchscreen gorgeous, beautiful and a knockout. Given Editor's Choice by PCMag, the Droid X marks the eXcellent
spot for Wi-Fi hotspots, Bluetooth voice dialing, video/multimedia,
great call quality with super noise cancellation, and good to great
8-megapixel camera. Verizon is offering the Droid X as part of its
