It's 2010 round-up review of reviews time for the top ten best coolest smartphones.  What a year it's been - an onslaught of super powerful smartphones with only a few features to distinguish one from the others in the pack.

We've rounded up reviews, holiday buying guides, and most popular lists from the best sources we could find, including picks from PCMag, PCWorld, Consumer Reports, ZDNet, Top 10 Reviews and Laptop.

These will all be included on Wireless and Mobile News' Top Ten Best Coolest Hottest Smartphones of 2010 Review of Reviews, which will be published in its entirety on Sunday, December 19.

The top operating system was no surprise.  Android dominated the top ten smartphones.

The top smartphone maker is Samsung, which is followed by HTC, Motorola, Apple,
RIM (BlackBerry) and LG.  We believe it is Samsung's stunning Super
AMOLED screens and processors with extra graphics power that put it in
the lead.  These stunning Samsung smartphones are the uber popular Samsung Galaxy S series and the Windows Phone 7 Samsung Focus.

There were a lot of also-rans with one vote only.  To determine which
smartphones came into 10th place, we judged by ratings and tenth
place is a tie between:

10. Google Nexus One - this was the
first smartphone to be sold directly by Google from a webstore.  They
were able to keep it a secret until it launched in January.  It received
great reviews for the operating system, but there were support issues
and network problems.  AT&T had its own version, and Verizon was also
supposed to launch one, but never did.

10. Motorola Defy - among the many Android phones sold by T-Mobile, it appeared on Oprah Winfrey's popular television show.  It is scratch and water-resistant as well as dust proof.  Released in November, it's considered a mid-level smartphone with great call quality but poor photo quality.
