HTC ThunderBolt Android 2.3 Update Suspended-New Update Soon

HTC ThunderBolt Updte GingerbreadHTC ThunderBolt owners will have to wait longer for the update to Android 2.3, Gingerbread. We have learned from Verizon Wireless that the update to Android 2.3 has been temporarily suspended.

We called Verizon spokesman, Albert Aydin who said about the update that began rolling out yesterday:

" It has come to the attention of Verizon Wireless and HTC that customers using the Thunderbolt by HTC have experienced a voicemail notification error with the recent software update. As a result, the update has  been temporarily suspended while the companies work together to resolve the issue. Verizon Wireless and HTC anticipate the update being available soon; customers will be notified directly on their devices when it is ready for download. '

There were more reports of glitches such as problems with voicemail, HTC Sense, the camera, locking, Google Talk  and clock app reported in the HTC Forum. There are also reports that HTC ThunderBolt owners  who tried to update from their smartphones were not able to.

Along with getting all the great features of Android 2.3 Gingerbread the update adds enhancements, better battery efficiency, better Bluetooth audio,  desktop cradle support and fixes SMS misrouting problems.

The list of features in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update are impressive, with the addition of download manager, active app management, shortcuts, one-touch copy/paste, widgets, icons, app groups, updated calendar options, camera geotagging, improved email synching, and camera auto-focus improvements.  Read Gingerbread tips.

    • I have a question. Yesturday I got the update to my phone it updated. I also experienced the voicemail notification problem as well. Also had a problems connecting to Internet. All my webpages were not found. I checked my firmware in my settings it says 2.3.4. My question is: when Verizon and HTC get this problem fixed will I be able to redownload either manually or OTA to get this problem fixed? Or will it not come up because I already have this on my phone? PLEASE let me know it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
