Motorla Xoom 4G Update Upgrade Release Date 9/29

Motoroal Xoom UgradVerizon Wireless announced today that the upgrade for the Motorola Xoom to 4G LTE access will be available starting tomorrow.  The  4G LTE-enabled Motorola Xoom model will be available on October13 for $499 with a contract.

The Motorola Xoom received gret reviews and there are many tips you can use to improve your experience with it.  It is not as cheap as the 7" Amazon Kindle or priced-to-clear HP TouchPad which lack cellular and 4G LTE data access.

Customers who want the upgrade must send their Motorola Xoom tablets to Motorola for hardware upgrade and will receive them back in about six business days. The 4G LTE upgrade is free of charge and customers do not have to change their current data plan when upgrading to 4G LTE.

After the upgrade, download speeds will average 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds should be 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G LTE mobile broadband coverage areas. When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, the Motorola Xoom automatically connects to the Verizon Wireless 3G network.

Before sending a Motorola Xoom tablet, be sure to backup any personal information prior to shipping.

The upgrade user guide suggests copying files over to your computer, backing up Google account information. You may choose to encrypt your MOTOROLA XOOM to password protect content or may choose to perform a factory reset to clear your personal content from the Motorola Xoom tablet.

Be sure to power your Motorola Xoom down before packing it the box in the supplied, padded FedEx envelope. When the package has been received, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to track the status of your return shipment. Motorola will insure your device during the shipping process as long as all steps outlined here are followed.
