Past leaks suggested that Verizon would be launching many of its latest smartphones on September 8 with releases of the Droid Bionic (confirmed) and Samsung Stratosphere (seen recently) and 4G LTE BlackBerry Curve. A new press release confirms September 8 as a super smartphone day for Verizon because the BlackBerry Torch 9850 will be offered through online sales September 8 and be sold in stores September 15.
The BlackBerry Torch 9850 will have global access and data connections through Verizon's 3G data network.
BlackBerry Torch 9850 features include:
- 3.7" touchscreen (800 x 480) with trackpad.
- 1.2 GHz processor.
- World phone access support for UMTS, HSPA, GSM, GPRS and EDGE.
- 5-megapixel camera with flash and 720p HD video recording capabilities.
- Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1.
- 16 GB microSD card pre-installed, with support for up to 32 GB microSD card.
- 3G Verizon network coverage.
- BlackBerry 7 operating system.
BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone buyers are required to subscribe to Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 for monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data. BlackBerry and smartphone Verizon customers who already have an unlimited data plan will have their unlimited data plan grandfathered.
