Verizon branded NexuThe launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is approaching for several reasons. New informaton has surfaced about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus starring in Android Ice Cream Sandwich videos and more clues pointing to a release date coming to the United States.

Here's what's been happening  with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus:

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus documents were filed with the FCC earlier this week. FCC approval usually is a few weeks to a month before a release date.
  • There is now an accessories page on the Verizon website for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with only a header showing.
  • Google updated the technical specs on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus webpage. The screen is as huge as ever at 4.65" HD(1280 x 720) Super AMOLED and the battery is shown to 1850mAh at is .5mm thicker than the other version.  Data is CDMA/LTE, Buetooth and Wi-Fi. There is front speaker, rear speaker and textured back cover. The specs show storage at 16GB/32GB.  There is no microSD card slot for adding storage.
  • Online Samsung Galaxy Nexus help is available.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Nexus went on sale today in the U.K.
  • New videos are appearing demonstrating the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
  • Verizon apps are seen in the videos.
  • Members of the media who have review units of the Nexus, received the world HSPA+ version not the Verizon 4G LTE version.
  • A notice form Mobile City Online announced that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250  is expected to be in-stock November 28, the Monday after Black Friday, closer inspection shows the "Unlocked Import."
All of the action on Google's part and promotions are great indications that it will arrive soon. However, the Verizon 4G LTE has caused delays in the past, the HTC ThunderBolt and  Droid Bionic were both delayed, many believe to network accessing problems.   The Twitter promotion ends on November 21.  Some Verizon leaked documents showed a "web-only" November 21 release date. Google reportedly told the Verge "that the Galaxy Nexus will be available ‘pretty much everywhere’ from Monday, November 21st.” (They did not say what version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ or 4G LTE).
Other leaks suggested the November 28 and others warn of a delay until December. There will at some point be an official announcement from Verizon Wireless and until then, we can keep guessing, but soon we won't have to guess any more.

Although the Samsung Galaxy Nexus does not have Gorilla Glass the glass is fortified. Someone took a key and tried to scratch it and no scratches were seen. If the glass is the same as the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket, it could be prone to scratching. Scratching has been reported on the Skyrocket.

The promotion team is in force while Nexus fans examine minute details.

The Google team released Galaxy Nexus videos on YouTube with that show instructions for setting up, homescreen, multitasking, face unlock, customize favorites tray, create a folder, change wallpaper and how to use beam the camera (videos follow).

Those who examined the homescreen carefully found that two Verizon apps come preloaded with MyVerizon and VZ Backup Assistant.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus commercial is very similiar to the Samsung Galaxy SII commercial, it says "Calling all pretty faces, all visionaries, pass-it-alongers, all meeters and greeters, all wandering navigators, mad scientists, all high-deffers, all late night poets and daylight dreamers, possibilities are calling."

On the Galaxy Nexus, to get started you have to insert the battery, power-on the phone, then choose language and start.
