The LG Spectrum will go on sale from Verizon Wireless after midnight tonight. The LG Spectrum is a Verizon branded LG Nitro HD. As we noted earlier with the Nokia Lumia 710 which understands the meaning of life, advertising is giving all kinds of human attributes to inanimate smartphones. Here's a new HD smartphone with spectacular specs and the ability to love you, too.
An amusing video from LG shows Daddy taking the Spectrum by LG into the bathroom to read the newspaper. Mom loves watching soap operas on it. Brother Dylan watches movies on it, he wants to be a director some day. Grandma loves the big screen to see every thing while shopping on her phone. The girl, Katie loves her Chameleon, Houdini who could become as popular as the breaded dragon who plays Android games. The video ends with the phrase "And thanks to Spectrum by LG, our phones love us too."
The YouTube description says "No wonder Katie's whole family loves their smartphone!!"
Katie is a busy girl because she stars in the same video except the LG Nitro HD loves her and her family too. Maybe it's some kind of Twilight Zone alternative universe, where in one dimension Katie is on the Verizon network and in the other she is on the AT&T network.
We don't know if this stereotypical family is as controversial or as offensive as the Samsung Galaxy S II video that compared its popularity to Budha and Jesus Christ which was later pulled.
The Spectrum by LG supports 1280 x 720 resolution at 329 ppi. LG claims users clear viewing in direct sunlight and accurate true-to-life color rendering. In future it is will offer world roaming.
The LG Spectrum also features a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Gorilla Glass, Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade available the first half of 2012), preloaded Netflix, Dolby Digital Plus, Bluetooth, DLNA and HDMI via MHL. The 8-megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera with LED flash offers 1080p video capture.
The Spectrum by LG comes with access to ESPN ScoreCenter app and love for your family which for $199.99 with a contract is a pretty good deal.
The Spectrum by LG will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future. On the other side of the smartphone spectrum is an unboxing video from Wirefly, where we see what is the box but not how the phone loves us.
The Wirefly video shows the outside of the box is black while the inside is bright Verizon red. The Spectrum by LG is very light. The touchscreen is a 4.5" HD touchscreen, USB cable charger and 1830mAh battery.
