Android Gingerbread Biggest Slice of Android Pie, ICS Updated to 4.9%

Android Pie ChartMany of our readers are anxiously awaiting the coveted update to Android 4.0+ for the Droid RAZR/MAXX, HTC Rezound and of course the Samsung Galaxy S II.  If you are currently running Android 2.33-7, however you are in the majority of Android OS users at 63.9% according to the latest finds from Android Developers.

Most of the installed Android base is using Android 2.2 to 2.3 at close to 84% of the Android market.  A mere 4.9% are using  versions of  Android 4.0.    If you are still a Froyo user, don't feel left out, you are still a majority in Android land.

Here are the latest figures ending May 1 for Android usage.

  • Android 1.5 Cupcake-  0.3%.
  • Android 1.6 Donut - 0.7%.
  • Android 2.1 Eclair- 5.5%.
  • Android 2.2 Froyo - 20.9%.
  • Android 2.3 - Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread- 0.5%.
  • Android 2.3.3 - Android 2.3.7 - 63.9%.
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb- 0.1%.
  • Android 3.1-1.0%.
  • Android 3.2- 2.2%.
  • Android 4.0 - Android 4.0.2 Ice Cream Sandwich- 0.5%.
