Change of Global And-On Travel Plans @ AT&T

ATT Romaing

AT&T has changed its international roaming plans by increasing the base price but increasing the data for new plans starting June 1.  They are called "AT&T Data Global Add-On" packages.

The new base price for international roaming is $30-a-month that comes with the 120MB of data.

The next step up is also cheaper than the previous plan which was $100.  The new plan for $60 includes 300MB of data.  The maximum amount of international data is 800MB for $120 a month which was $200 previous.

All this in time for the Olympics in London and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The overage charges for international roaming have also been reduced to $30 for every 120MB over the limit.  Still data overseas is not cheap.

Most of our friends when they travel internationally by a prepaid phone while in Europe and use Wi-Fi in cafes or hotels whenever possible.

AT&T claims " All three international data packages are designed to give customers the freedom and flexibility to use their smartphone, tablet or laptop to stay in touch via email, update their status on popular social networking sites and enjoy convenient access to information such as maps and directions, without having to search for a Wi-Fi hotspot."

On the Verizon front the Droid RAZR/MAXX and HTC Rezound are scheduled to get roaming capability in the summer.
