The Samsung Galaxy Note has created a whole new movement in the phone/tablet market. Called "phablets" the new category is growing quickly. In fact, researchers are calling the Samsung Galaxy S III, a phablet, too and predicting phenomenal sales in the next few years.
More than 208 million phablets, like the Samsung Galaxy Note, will be shipped globally in 2015, predicts ABI Research.
There was a slow start for phablet smartphones in 2011 which is was at the dawn of the phablet era. HTC, LG, and Huawei will each introduce phablet smartphones in 2012, joining the ranks of Samsung’s Galaxy Note and Nexus. Another phablet smartphone was released, the Samsung Galaxy S III in Europe, this month.
Although we don't know the exact launch days for the Samsung Galaxy S III in the United States, it will be launched in Canada on June 20, with a different 1.5 GHz dual-core processor( Snapdragon S4) than European models. T-Mobile is suspected to release the S3 on June 20, too while there is shortage of blue models. The Samsung Galaxy S III is making its way through the FCC which usually means a release date is coming soon.
The emerging market for phabulous phablets are phamilies especially those with phathers on the road with kids as illustrated in the most recent commercial airing for the Samsung Galaxy Note.
The father says "Technology eases the pain of being on the road so much away from the family..We both exchange things back and forth...It's way beyond little icons and symbols. I feel like I'm there."
The daughter draws a picture to send her father and the family converses via video chat.
Because the Samsung Galaxy S III is also being called a "phablet" by analysts we expect that marketing for it in the United States will also pull on the strings of the "phamily angle." There has been a preponderance of heart tugs with smartphones that love Katie too and smartphones that understand the meaning of life.
What will be the next pheatures for phabulous phablets for phamilies? Phablets with lactating mommy pheromones ? I'll buy that.
There is still new update as to when the exact release date of the Android 4.0 ICS update with S Pen features will be coming to United Sates version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, although Note owners in Europe have received the update.
The Galaxy S III is not a phablet. To be considered a phablet the display needs to be 5 inches or more but less than 7 inches. I only have a 4.3 inch display on my phone so a .5 more inches isn't going to make that big of a deal.
The analysts are calling the Samsung Galaxy S III a tablet, not me.
