Samsung Galaxy Note will be getting a the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with premium S Pen note taking and artistic features.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is called a phabulous phablet which had reached sales of 10 million on June 1 of this year.

The update  I777UCLF6 is available using Samsung  Kies software only, not Over-the-Air.  

Although Samsung claims that data should not be lost, however, it is always a good idea to backup your data first. You will not be able to make or receive phone calls during the update process.  Also be sure to fully charge your battery.

Samsung also warns in the Kies software during the update process  "Don't press any buttons to run the menu during the update or connect other mobile devices to your computer." Be sure not to disconnect the cable.

Noted features of the update include Android Beam NFC and the Premium Suite.  This update comes in time to play free Olympic Game apps provided by Samsung.  With the new S Memo Widget you have one-touch access to key S Memo features to capture your ideas quickly and intuitively.

The update will enable the use of the new S Pen  apps including:

  • S Note is a special app that lets you combine handwritten notes or sketches with other content.
  • Shape Match will  help correct and digitize  hand-drawn geometric shapes so that you can draw tables and grids which are instantly digitized,.
  • Formula Match uses the S Note’s integrated knowledge search engines to quickly search, and obtain information.
  • My Story allows you to create personalized digital cards for friends or family using any type of content including notes, video content, photos, text or voice.
There will be some changes made to your Samsung Galaxy Note:
  • Home screens: Items that have been added to the home screen, such as home screens that have been added/removed, applications, widgets, and wallpaper (if the current wallpaper is not supported by ICS) are reset to default. Lock screen images will be preserved.
  • Application Menu: The application menu sorting, folders and home keys will be reset. Downloaded applications will be preserved.
  • Contact Groups: All Contacts and Contact groups will remain. However. contacts within the contact groups will be removed.
  • Email: Email accounts that were added as a Social Hub or Samsung premium account will be removed.
  • Music: Music playlists and settings (Equalizer, Sound effect, Music menu) will be reset during the update.
  • Bluetooth: Paired bluetooth devices will be removed during the reset.
