As we enter the season gearing up for Black Friday and holiday sales, tablets will be on the buying list for good girls and boys.
It was shown last year, the that people wanted tablets, especially the iPad. The Kindle Fire was the top best seller on Amazon at $199. Amazon will be selling the Kindle Fire HD which now competes with the Nexus 7. If $199 is too much for your budget, you could adopt a wait and buy attitude.
The Nexus 7 has gotten excellent reviews and the Kindle Fire HD has some neat new features although some models have tell-tale signs of yellowing.
It appears that Google may be working on a budget-priced $99 tablet, heretofore unseen except in the HP TouchPad fire sale.
According to Digitimes, a source said that Google is reportedly making two new versions of the Nexus 7 that are expected to be thinner, and will use TN panels made by Taiwan-based panel maker HannStar.
One of the models will be priced at $199 while the other will be priced $99, and both models are expected to hit markets by the end of 2012.
When we checked last year, the $99 price point was when the tablet market would explode for the generally public.
