The latest Droid on the Verizon Wireless network is the Droid RAZR M which is best known for its edge-to-edge display and other Droid features.
Verizon Wireless is running a new ad highlighting the Droid RAZR M and it share everything plan. The commercial shows a mom with a Droid RAZR M making a mobile hotspot to share video conferencing of a tub concert with her family.
She better have a huge data plan because Skype video can average 3.4MB a minute. If it is a long concert say an hour on three devices it would each up data very quickly, especially if the tuba player, was prolific. The Verizon data calculator shows 4G VoIP with Video = 260 MB/hr per line.
The good news is the Droid RAZR M has the power to make a Wi-Fi hotspot for all three devices running simultaneously. The Droid RAZR M won Laptop Editors' Choice and was highly rated by PCMAG. Unfortunately, it does not have the Webtop app installed and if you want the discounted upgrade price you will have to give up unlimited grandfathered data.
According to Motorola by spreading the screen to edge, the size of the Droid RAZR M is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
The Droid RAZR M has many features you will not find in the iPhone 5 including Google Maps, YouTube App, microSD card slot, NFC, water resistant coating on circuitry and 12.5hrs of talk time. The iPhone 5 has been tested to have around 8 hours of talk time. The screen is slightly larger than the iPhone 5 at 4.3". The data will cost you the same as the iPhone 5 but the hardware is less expensive.
Amazon has discounted the Droid RAZR M to $79.99 for new Verizon Customers while renewing customers pay $99. This price is a little over month after its release date. The next Droid models are the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR HD Maxx which may have release dates this month. We are working on a Droid RAZR M review that should be coming out soon.
Features of the Droid RAZR M include 1.5GHZ dual-core processor, NFC, 8MP camera, 8GB storage, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, 2000mAh battery, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots, Bluetooth, Corning Gorilla Glass display, and DuPont KEVLAR fiber.
There are too many choices. I like that it’s small enough to fit my hand. I’ll have to try it out next to an iPhone 5. Is it just me or is the iPhone getting boring?
I like the SG S3 better, it's bigger and has more software features.
I’m tempted to wait for the release date of the Droid RAZR HD Maxx, the “M” is very tempting.
I'm jealous of the water resistant nanocoating. Can I please put a Motorola Droid RAZR M in the washing machine to launder my NFC money?
