Samsung announced the little sister to the Samsung Galaxy S III, the Samsung Galaxy S III mini which has the same size screen as the iPhone 5. It is realm of Droid RAZR M possibilities.
The news release states that the Samsung Galaxy S III mini has the same revolutionary design, usability and intelligence as the Samsung Galaxy S III but in a more compact form.
You'll be able to share with your Samsung Galaxy Note II and S III friends using the S Beam function.
Features of the Samsung Galaxy S III mini include Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 4" Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1 GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB on board storage, microSD, 5MP camera, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G network access and Samsung's TouchWiz UX.
Special Samsung software includes S Voice searching/commands, gestures and Smart Stay. In its ad comparing the Samsung Galaxy S III to the iPhone 5, Samsung noted that the iPhone did not have ShareShot, Group Cast, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Tilt to Zoom, Palm Gestures, Picture in Picture, Turn Over to Mute, Shake to Update and Removable Battery. Most likely the Samsugn Galaxy S III mini will also have the removable battery.
Samsung did not offer a release date or where it will be sold. Due to its specs, some are calling more of a Samsung Galaxy S II. Some reports say that is it is geared towards the European market.
With dimensions at 121.55 x 63 x 9.85 mm it is not thinner than the iPhone 5 which is 7.7mm but weighs 111.5 g which is .5 grams less than the iPhone 5. Since it doesn't have 4G LTE, it downgrades it to more of an iPhone 4s competitor. Compare Samsung Galaxy S III to iPhone 5.
