HTC showed off the new HTC One in New York and London today, calling it the "best smartphone ever."
Many manufacturers have made that claim before let's see if true, at least for now. Let's look at the hardware and software (video follows).
New HTC One Hardware:
- 4.7" HD 1080p 468ppi touchscreen.
- 1.7 GHz quad-core processor using Android.
- Ultra Pixel Camera - new sensors gather 300 percent more light than traditional smartphone camera sensors improving low-light shooting and minimizing motion blur. The camera features Smart Flash with five levels of flash automatically set by distance to subject. The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) stabilizes video. The camera has BSI sensor with a Pixel size 2.0 µm and Dedicated HTC ImageChip 2.
- Dual-Front Facing Speakers -. the sound is not muffled when you set your phone down. HTC BoomSound on the HTC One provides richer, clearer sound with less distortion, as well as the authentic sound experience from built-in Beats by Dr. Dre Audio
- Dual Mics with Dual Membranes - for better voice quality in noisy places
- Zero Gap Construction Body - to make it light and thin.
- 2300 mAh battery, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi, DLNA, micro USB, HDMI(with MHL adapter) and Bluetooth.
The hardware is top-of-the-line for now, although there are some close competitors and more to be announced soon such as the Samsung Galaxy S IV.
HTC Sense 5 Software
- BlinkFeed similar to Windows Phone Tiles or Flipboard aggregates content from various places, real-time updates streamed live on your home screen.
- SenseTV-universal remote app to ability to access program guides and control a set-top box and home theatre.
- Zoe Camera Software- Press the shutter to automatically capture up to 20 photos and a 3-second video for a living gallery. There's no need for PhotoShop because there is Retouch with Object Removal, Group Retouch, and Sequence Shot
- Music Player with Beats Audio amplifier
AT&T will offer the HTC One in silver and black, with 32GB or 64GB options. It will also offered T-Mobile and Sprint. Verizon Wireless will continue to offer the Droid DNA only.
