Samsung sent out an "official new release" today stating that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 will be widely available at seven U.S. carriers and seven retailers beginning in April. Some carriers announced their release dates, preorders, deals and pricing.
- Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 - preorders start Thursday April 18(while supplies last), released date in stores April 27, price $249.99 for 16GB SG S4 for new line or eligible upgrade. New Sprint customers receive $100 instant credit.
- T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 - available online on April 24, in stores May 1, price(16GB) $149.99 down and 24 0% interest $20 payments total price for Samsung Galaxy S 4 is $630 which is $50 more than the iPhone 5 from T-Mobile priced at $580. Credit approval required.
- AT&T - preorders available now, ships April 30, 16GB model costs $199.99 with contract,
- U.S. Cellular - preorders start today, 16GB model $199.99 with free flip cover, "available later this month".
- Verizon Wireless - has not set a release date, yet it is suspected to be May 30. 12-month pricing plan will be available for full price buyers.
- C Spire- will disclose exact pricing and retail availability in the coming weeks.
- Cricket - details have not been announced, yet.
Staples have the S4 available for preorder now some models in stores on April 24. It is has also been reported that Walmart will offer the Sasmung Galaxy S4 for $168.00 with a new AT&T account. If you are bargain shopper we suggest until the phone goes on sale when online retailers such as Wirefly or Amazon that will discount phones more over time.
The Galasy S4 will also be sold at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile, Costco, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club, Staples, and Target.
Features of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 include a huge 5" HD touchscreen, 12MP camera, Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and quad-core processor. Special new technology includes Smart Stay that keep the screen on while users are looking at it. Smart Pause pauses a video if you stop watching it. There are several sensors that are used for the "smart features" including gesture sensor for Air Gestures and light sensor to adapt the display.
As we noted previously, it may behoove you to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S 4 to save money, have more choices, more accessories and more stable software, especially if your contract has not ended.
Currently the closet competiotr to the SG S4 is the HTC One, they are very close, depending upon which UI and features you prefer. Other Samsung Galaxy S4 competitors are iPhone 5 (at end of article second image) and BlackBerry Z10 (see comparison) or even the Nexus 4 .
