Moto X (XFON) not Nexus 5 or Droid: Details & Release Date Round-up

Motorola finally revealed more details surrounding the Moto X at D11. It is not the Nexus 5, although Google hasn't given up on the Nexus line and will have some special features.

The Moto X will have some kind special sensors. Google gives Motorola no special treatment for getting code or anything early. The products are going to ship throughout the fall.

Moto X ARm BandMoto X gets its battery-friendly sensor technology from products develeped for the MOTOACTV watch. The Moto X is contextually aware. Therefore we may see things like a heart rate monitor, fitness tracking, calorie counter, bicycle mileage and the golf edition may keep score. We could also see weather information, auto-phone answering when held to ear, auto-shut-off in cars or too-much eating alarms.

Mid Level & Cheap 4 All?

Previously, it was revealed that the Moto X could be in the mid size range of smartphones round 4.5" or less.  This should keep the price down. Currently the most popular Verizon smartphone on is the 4.3" Droid RAZR M.

Moto X is the first smartphone that will be made in the U.S.. It will be made in Fort Worth, Texas employing  2,000 people at a former Nokia plant. The processors from Taiwain, OLED screens from Korea. The Motorola X is one of several smartphones due out from Motorola this fall, said Dennis Woodside, who revealed that he thinks there is big opportunity at the lower end. Motorola X will be released on all the major carriers. The release date should be in the late summer and super device in the fall in time for Black Friday.

We suspect that the Moto X may be a bargain and won't be a Droid.  There hasn't been a Droid since the fall and usually there is one introduced in the Spring.  We're wondering if the pressure from the manufacturers to be branded like the iPhone has made Verizon pull back on the Droid line of smartphones.

It’s a fast-changing market and Motorola could make a come back. Samsung  shipped the same number of devices that Motorola ships today in 2010.

Accessories to Knock Your Socks Off?

Motorola is also working on innovative accessories, and pulling back on tablets.  Motorola shut down and postponed products in the last couple of weeks. It appears the process is to develop many products at once then pick and chose the best products.

Motorola is going to play a different game and change the world in the first launch noted Woodside. Flexible and unbreakable screens are in the works but won't be part of the Motorola launches this year.

Tattoo Informed & Pilled Control?

The future may have tattoos for authentication or vitamin pill with a battery powered by stomach acid, reported  Regina Dugan  senior vice president at Motorola Mobility at the Advanced Technology & Projects (ATAP) group. She was formerly the director of DARPA for the Department of Defense.

Built-in-America seems to be the most appealing features of the Moto X. Until we see what Motorola has in detail, we can't tell where or how it will go.  However, as we know from the Nexus 4, if the price is right people will buy it.
