Asus Transformer PRime 700At CES, Asus revealed a new version of the Asus Transformer Prime (700 series) with improvements to the original models with  higher price points.  The original Asus Tranformer Prime has just been updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and was named the coolest tablet of 2011 by Wireless and Mobile News.

Improvements include a new back that will allow for better wireless connections, higher resolution screen (1920 x 1200), 2MP front-facing camera,  Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and 2MP front-facing camera.

Asus Transformer Prime Primed for Early Update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)

At an Nividia press event last night, it was revealed that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) was rolling out which was three days earlier than promised for the Asus Transformer Prime . We believe that it makes the Asus Transformer Prime the first ICS-enabled tablet.

The Asus Transformer Prime  was named the coolest tablet of 2011 by Wireless and Mobile News for its transforming into a netbook computer with a dock.

Asus Transformer Prime Back in Stock for Shipping & Ready for Ice Cream Sandwich

There's good news for Asus Transformer Prime fans, the super quad-core tablet is back in stock for shipping to stores in 3-5 days just in time for than Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update on January 12.

 As of this writing, BestBuy.com shows stock of the Asus Transformer Prime 32GB in Gray ready to ship.  In the past, BestBuy.com availability for the Transformer didn't last long.  On Tuesday, Asus stated "Now, we are continuing to make the Transformer Prime available in the worldwide market, and doing our best to fulfill the incredible demand."

Asus Trasformer Prime Primed for Sales, Where 2 Buy & Update Soon

The coolest tablet of 2011, the Asus Transformer Prime, continues to sell-out and will be getting an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, shortly.  Asus also listened to complaints that the bootloader was locked and will offer an unlocking tool in the future. A few outlets are taking preorders.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich FOTA (Firmware-Over-the-Air) worldwide update for the Transformer Prime will start from Jan 12th, 2012.

For a brief while the Asus Transformer Prime was mislabeled and available from Office Depot .  When we checked today it showed "insufficient stock.'"

Amazon is taking preorders for the 64GB AsusTransformer Prime for $599 and stating orders will ship in 4 to 7 weeks. Amazon does not  show any ability to preorder the 32GB Asus Transformer Prime.  If this round of preorders is like the previous one, it may sell out. Best Buy which previously had some stock shows the Asus Trnsformer Prime "coming soon."
