Verizon branded NexuThe launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is approaching for several reasons. New informaton has surfaced about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus starring in Android Ice Cream Sandwich videos and more clues pointing to a release date coming to the United States.

Here's what's been happening  with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus:

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus documents were filed with the FCC earlier this week. FCC approval usually is a few weeks to a month before a release date.
  • There is now an accessories page on the Verizon website for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with only a header showing.
  • Google updated the technical specs on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus webpage. The screen is as huge as ever at 4.65" HD(1280 x 720) Super AMOLED and the battery is shown to 1850mAh at is .5mm thicker than the other version.  Data is CDMA/LTE, Buetooth and Wi-Fi. There is front speaker, rear speaker and textured back cover. The specs show storage at 16GB/32GB.  There is no microSD card slot for adding storage.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus ContextAlthough there has been no official announcement as to when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be released, the promotion machine is starting on the Google Nexus Twitter feed which is giving clues to how to win a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and perhaps when it will be released...

For the Galaxy Nexus Challenge eligibility you must follow @googlenexus, on Twitter.  The challenge started, yesterday, November 12 and ends November 21.  There are puzzle challenges and tasty treat challenges. For challenge number 2 "Make something geeky & edible,' we think someone will definitely make something out of an ice cream sandwich.

There may be another clue in this tasty challenge.  Okay let's look at the last "Google Nexus Challenge 2" contest on Twitter, the contest started on April 28 and ended May 8 with winners notified May 11.  When was the Google Nexus S released on Sprint?  The Google Nexus S was released from Sprint on ta-dah May 8!

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Back CoverIf you were wondering if the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would have Verizon Branding, there is case for it from the Samsung website.  There will also be some other nice accessories for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which has to be searched by the term "Nexus Prime i515" on the Samsung website.

The fact that the accessories are listed could mean that it will be released soon.  Many are hoping that the Samsung Galaxy will be released in time for the holidays. It could later this month or a little bit later this year.  Some Verizon stores have cases in stock.

Just in case,  your cover has to be replaced  the " The Samsung i515 Lithium Ion Replacement Battery Cover is engineered to offer additional protection for your lithium ion battery" is $9.99.  The photo clearly shows Verizon Wireless branding.
