Samsung Galaxy Nexus Nexus PrimeVerizon Wireless is the first U.S. Carrier to announce and confirm that it carry the Samsung Galaxy Nexus aka Nexus Prime or Droid Prime. In a news release Verizon said that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available later this year. Some suspect the released date may be as soon as November. Pricing is expected to be around $300.

There are many firsts for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus:

  • It is the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone(see features).
  • First 4.65" HD Super AMOLED touchscreen.
  • First Verizon smartphone with Android Beam to beam information to other smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus(formerly known as the Nexus Prime) has a sign-up page for notifications from Google.  The drop-down menu for carrier information shows AT&T, Cellular South, Metro PCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon. This menu has led to speculation that you eventually be able to buy a Samsung Galaxy Nexus for all of the aforementioned carriers.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a "pure Google" smartphone with a 4.65" touchscreen and 1.2 GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460  processor, expected to go on sale in November.

For data the Samsung Galaxy Nexus can connect to either 4G LTE or HSPA+.

Samsung Galaxy NexusSmartphones go through a lot of name changes the HTC ChaCha became the HTC Status and then there are code names in between.   Th latest leak screenshots refer to the Nexus Prime coming to Verizon Wireless  as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The Best Buy Cellbrite system screenshot shows the SCH-i515 as the Nexus Prime (Android).

The internal Verizon screenshot shows the name Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the usual features for most smartphones on the Verizon Network.
