iPhone 5Most of the smartphones sold in the fourth quarter for Verizon were iPhones at 62.24% % and a whopping 84% of AT&T's smartphone sales in the fourth quarter were iPhones.

Even though the best-rated smartphones of 2012 were primarily Android, it looks like consumers trust the iPhone brand.

Yesterday, we learned that social media showed a decline in the iPhone with Samsung the king of consumer engagement.  Sales figures for AT&T show a different story.

In Q4, AT&T sold 10.2 million smartphones that equals 89% of contract phone sales and 8.6 million of the phones were iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.  When the iPhone 5 was introduced the price of other models with a contract were reduced greatly.

The fourth quarter of 2012 showed the highest iPhone concentration in smartphones with 78%, 72% and 77% in the previous quarters.  In total, iPhones account 79% of smartphones is 2012.

Android, BlackBerry and Windows phones accounted for 1.6 million smartphone sales in the fourth quarter and 5.6 million for the entire year.
