Verizon Wireless confirmed via its Twitter account that it is rolling out an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the HTC ThunderBolt. The HTC ThunderBolt was recently shown to be the top 4G LTE smartphone.
Users will get a notification that an update is available. Verizon rolls out updates over time, starting off slowly at first.

Along with getting all the great features of Android 2.3 Gingerbread the update adds enhancements, better battery efficiency, better Bluetooth audio, desktop cradle support and fixes SMS misrouting problems.
It will take you approximately 12 to 15 minutes to download the software. Once you download the software, the next step is to install it onto the HTC ThunderBolt. Installation should take up to 7-10 minutes additional. Keep in mind that during the installation you will be unable to make or receive calls, including emergency calls.
There have been reports that update causes problems with voicemail notification and Google Talk.
It is always a good idea to backup your data, first and make sure that your battery is at least 40% charged.
