On the eve of the iPad HD/3 announcement, Forrester Research revealed the reasons for iPad purchases and success for the table market that is white hot.
Forrester increased its tablet forecast and expects that 112.5 million US adults will own a tablet in 2016 or over a third of American adults.
Forrester's data shows that the top reason consumers don't buy tablets isn't because of price. Forrester notes that people use tablets for services. Apple, Amazon, and B&N succeeded in the U.S. where just hardware solutions have failed because people buy tablets for services such as music, books and media.
The iPad and tablets are showing up every where. The top place we consumers use tablets is in the living room, while 37% of US tablet owners take them to work, also.
Forrester believes that Amazon should combat Apple by licensing its platform to other hardware OEMs. Amazon would also benefit from more tables with one-click Amazon buying.
Another suggest offered is that "Apple should launch a smaller, cheaper iPad to ward off competition from Amazon which we assume is the iPad mini rumor circulating.
