As we guessed, last week, Sprint was planning the launch of Sprint LTE in Los Angeles. Today, we learned that the official launch of Sprint LTE in Los Angeles and twenty other metros. Virgin Mobile and Boost users with LTE smartphones will also be able to use the new LTE network. Sprint is heavily promoting its 4G LTE products with discounts and deals.
We were cautioned to note that 4G LTE coverage will not be comprehensive at first, but should increase steadily and be largely completed in a matter of weeks. However, the map of Los Angeles looks pretty good right now.
Sprint reminded us, that now through May 9th, Save $100 on any phone when you switch your number to Sprint. (Valid for new lines only. Restrictions apply. )
Sprint LTE can be as fast as 13Mbps down and 5.5Mbps uploading data. Sprint has overhauled its towers for increased capacity and more stable connections.
You have to have an LTE enabled smartphone such as the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Victory 4G LTE, HTC EVO 4G LTE, LG Viper 4G LTE, Galaxy Nexus, iPhone 5 or Motorola Photon Q LTE. The two newest Sprint LTE models, the HTC One will be available April 19 while the Samsung Galaxy S4 will go on sale April 27. (compare HTC One to SG S4)
