Verizon 4G LTE Verizon Wireless is adding five new metros to its 4G LTE network, today.  This will bring the total served by the network to 200 million in 195 markets.  These metros launch along with the new LG Spectrum (HD) and new customers will have a choice of many 4G LTE options.

Verizon has a new sweet deal for new network until January 26,  a free HTC ThunderBolt with a new line activation and 50% extended battery.  Well-reviewed 4G LTE models also include the Droid RAZR and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The  New Metros are:

  • Glens Falls and Utica, New York.
  • Lawton, Oklahoma.
  •  Brownsville and McAllen, Texas.
  • Verizon Wireless is also expanding its network in Atlanta, Houston and Spokane, Washington.

Sony Xperia Ion Ionizes HD with 4.6" Nexus-Sized, 12MP Camera Q2 Release Date

At CES, the Sony Xperia Ion was announced, Sony's first LTE smartphone that compliments Sony HD TVs with super fast Sony camera built-in.  It is expected to have a release date in the second quarter of this year.

Reviewers who have seen it call it pure Sony.  Features of the Sony Xperia Ion  include 4.6" HD (1280x720) touchscreen, 12MP camera (1080 capture), HDMI port, aluminum body and 1.5GHz processor. It will lauch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The Sony Xperia Ion touchscreen is powered by the Sony Bravia engine that is also found on Sony TVs.

LG ViperAs CES, Sprint announced LG Viper 4G LTE , one of its first LTE smartphone swith a very bright screen that Android 4.0 upgradeable. It reportedly will cost less than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it comes to Sprint, in the first half of this year.

Eco features of the LG Viper 4G LTE include a charger with a no-load consumption rating of .03W, which exceeds the EC Code of Conduct on energy efficiency and a casing is made of 35 percent recycled plastics.

The Nova touchscreen is supposed to be brighter than Samsung Galaxy Nexus' Super AMOLED touchscreen.  This type of screen is very clear even in direct sunlight.

Attention note-takers, there was a notable tablet-phone announced at CES during the AT&T Developer Summit, the Samsung Galaxy Note with writing recognition for the S-Pen. This superphone was noted as one of the reasons for Samsung's success.

The Samsung Galaxy Note will connect to the new AT&T 4G LTE network, runs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor come sin blue or white.  The Samsung Galaxy Note  has a 5.3” Super AMOLED touchscreen with 180 degree viewing angle.

Features include, Android 2.3, Gingerbread, 16GB onboard memory, microSD card slot, 2500 mAh battery, 8MP camera, 2MP front facing camera,  Mobile HotSpot capable, built-in pen holder and  Samsung Approved for Enterprise security.

The Samsung Galaxy Note  has the S Memo app to capture all forms of user-created content captured by the S Pen. Pictures, voice recordings, typed text, handwritten notes or drawings can all be converted to a ‘memo’ and shared.
