To correct the latest round of conjecturatti and bogusazzi reports, we contacted Verizon Wirelesss spokesman Albert Aydin to find out if the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for the HTC Rezound, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid 4 are being pushed out today, Good Friday, April 6 or over the weekend on Easter, Sunday.
It didn't make sense to us that a major phone company would stress its connections over a holiday weekend when family members would be calling, texting, video conferencing and sending videos to each other.
Aydin confirmed, "Verizon Wireless is not pushing out an update to the HTC Rezound, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX or Droid 4, today or this weekend."
Aydin confirmed that the aforementioned smartphones would be receiving updates but could not disclose exact release dates, yet.
We did notice that the Verizon support page for HTC Rezound had a "Coming Soon!' headline which Aydin said was left from a previous update.
Update 04/09/12: Motorola is preparing a "soak test" which is a good sign that an update is coming soon.
Verizon announced in March which of its devices would be receiving the update to Android 4.0 ICS many of which were the high-end models released in 2011 and earlier this year. Many of the soon-to-be updated smartphones appear on our best of 2012 list for the first quarter of this year.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds some features such as Android Beam, Face Unlock, a new UI and improved camera (see all features and video).
HTC confirmed in March that the HTC Rezound would be getting an update to Android 4.0 but did not announce when.
Easter is on sunday. Today is friday. Also Easter is not that big of holiday
Friday is Good Friday. It is a very big holiday for many Christians. Good Friday is so "big" the New York Stock Exchange closes.
God knows the Christians are the only ones using Verizon.
