HTC Updates 4.0 ICS 4 EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Rezound, Rhyme & ThunderBolt with Q3 Release Dates

HTC has updated the schedule for Android 4.0 ICS updates that will include HTC Sense 3.6. Tablets will not be updated while smartphones with less than 512MB ROM are not going to be updated, either.

The Droid Incredible 2 is still under consideration and may be determined by the end of August.  HTC reports that most of the devices will receive upgrades throughout June and July with the with expected finish of updates in August for all announced models.

The HTC Vivid recieved an update on March 23. The second round of updates were  the HTC Amaze 4G  and HTC sensation 4G.

The June through July releases will be the HTC EVO Desgin 4G,  HTC EVO 3D, HTC Rezound and HTC Rhyme.

The HTC Thunderbolt update release dates are expected in July-August.

HTC warns:

"Because of partner and network testing, and approval processes for device updates, it can take up to 45 days for all carriers and countries to get the update after a rollout has begun. If your phone has not received the update after the 45-day period, navigate to Settings>About>Software Updates to have your device manually check for updates.  In general, devices with 512MB ROM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.0."

We believe the updates will include simliar features to the HTC Amaze update that went out last weekw with:

  • Android 4.0.
  • HTC Sense 3.6.
  • Improved menu structure.
  • System bar enhancements to easily view recent apps.
  • Re-sizeable widgets
  • Lock screen actions including pull down notifications and adjust volume while device is locked.
  • Data usage controls.
  • Face Unlock.
  • Home screen folders.
  • Improved battery life.
  • If Wi-Fi hotspots are added, you have to subscribe to the service through your carrier.

  1. If HTC gets my thunderbolt an update soon I will stick with them when I buy my next phone. Even with the HUGE problems of the thunderbolt. If they don't get one out before the next Google update, Then Motorola or Samsung are looking pretty good.
