Most Read Top Wireless and Mobile News Stories this Week in Review:

This week has been a great week for changes for WiMo News, endings, beginnings, "phun", updates, teasers, sales, deals, new iPhone carriers and our old friend the ImmortaPad.  We thought we were seeing double, because double is in two of the top stories this week.

  • We had a lot of "phun" with the news about phablets, especially the Samsung Galaxy Note. Analysts predict that this new category will have phenomenal sales. We also noticed that the primary market for this is phamilies. The Samsung Galaxy S III was announced for the U.S. with similar qualities.
  • We know from our friends at Motorola in Japan who are saying "konnichiwa"(hello) to Android 4.0 ICS with videos for the Motorola RAZR /MAXX that the release date in the US should be very soon.
  • Asus teased its latest releases including a double-duty Windows/Android thing and double-sided device that will be seen this week.  It turns out that the Asus will enable Windows PC to run Android apps through a software solution.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus VZW Update to Android 4.04 ICS Update - Out

Samsung Galaxy Nexus UpdateVerizon Wireless is prepping an update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.04 which will be out "very soon."

We received notification from Verizon Wireless spokesman Albert Aydin that "Verizon Wireless will soon push a software update to the 4G LTE powered Galaxy Nexus by Samsung."

Generally, Verizon Wireless updates start very slowly on Wednesday and Thursday and then get pushed out in full force over the weekend.  Some lucky Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners have already received the OTA (Over-the-Air) update to Android 4.04 with some minor changes, screen freeze improvements and glitch fixes.

Samsung Galaxy NoteThe Samsung Galaxy Note has created a whole new movement in the phone/tablet market.  Called "phablets" the new category is growing quickly. In fact, researchers are calling the Samsung Galaxy S III, a phablet, too and predicting phenomenal sales in the next few years.

More than 208 million phablets, like the Samsung Galaxy Note, will be shipped globally in 2015, predicts ABI Research.

There was a slow start for phablet smartphones in 2011 which is was at the dawn of the phablet era. HTC, LG, and Huawei will each introduce phablet smartphones in 2012, joining the ranks of Samsung’s Galaxy Note and Nexus. Another phablet smartphone was released, the Samsung Galaxy S III in Europe, this month.
