Verizon Wireless & U.S. Top 4G LTE Market: VZW Swings to 33%

The United States is the top LTE market and expected to keep the top spot until 2005 when China comes into the LTE fold. The main cause of the LTE honor is Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network, reported Informa Telecoms & Media. The top 4G leader in the U.S., however, is Sprint's WiMAX network.

“Although 26 operators worldwide have launched LTE networks, Verizon stands out with more than 3 million subscriptions in 3Q11, putting it on track for more than 4 million by year-end. That will represent 63% of total global LTE subscriptions of 6.4 million at end-2011,” says Mike Roberts, principal analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media.

HTC Vivid with Vivid 4.5" Touchscreen, 4G LTE @ AT&T November 6

Along with the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, AT&T also announced the HTC Vivid 4G LTE smartphone for its 4G LTE network with a November 6 release date.

The HTC Vivid has a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4.5" qHD touchscreen, enhanced 8-MP camera and 16 GB of on-board memory, microSD expandable to 32 GB. Features are very similar to the HTC Amaze except it will access AT&T's 4G LTE network.

The Vivid camera has a 28mm, f/2.2 lens and 1080p HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) video recording along with video editor and slow motion playback. According AT&T photos, it will come in white and black.

The HTC Vivid also has HTC Sense with a customizable lockscreen, news/weather/updates widget, animations and social media integration.

Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket to Skyrocket with LTE @ AT&T 11/6 Release Date

AT&T and Samsung announced today the next member of the Samsung galaxy, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket with 4G LTE and other features that out-class other smartphones on the AT&T network with the highest price tag of $249.99 with a contract. The release date online and in stores is November 6.

The most exciting features of the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket are fast 4G LTE access, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and larger 4.5" Super AMOLED touchscreen which bests the Samsung Galaxy S II on AT&T that has a 4.3" touchscreen and 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket also features Android Gingerbread (2.3.5), 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, with 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p HD video recording, 16 GB of on-board memory, microSD expandable to 32 GB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Verizon Expands 4G LTE for Droid Bionic, Pantech Breakout, Nexus Prime, Droid RAZR HD?

Verizon Wireless announced today that its 4G LTE will add 22 new cities and expand the network in four cities on October 20. Verizon will add 13 cities and expand in five cities on November 17 (list follows).

Samsung Stratsophere - announced today the Samsung Stratosphere is the first QWERTY 4G LTE smartphone from Verizon Wireless.

Motorola Xoom 4G LTE Release Date 10/13 Upgrade & Deals 2Day

Verizon Wireless announced that the 4G LTE-enabled Motorola Xoom model will be available on October 13 for $499 with a contract. Current Verizon Motorola Xoom owners are eligible for an upgrade to 4G LTE today by sending the tablets back to Motorola.

Download speeds will average 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds should be 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G LTE mobile broadband coverage areas. When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, the Motorola Xoom automatically connects to the Verizon Wireless 3G network.

The new 4G LTE Motorola Xoom will come with the hardware needed to connect to the 4G LTE network. You can save some money by buying a non-4G LTE enabled pre-owned Motorola Xoom for $399 which is upgradeable. It will take about a week to get it back to save $100 as part of a Back-to-School promo.
