To be clear a Droid must be a branded Verizon Droid Android smartphone and released in 2012 to be named in the best smartphones of 2012 lists. Many would contend that the latest Droid, the Droid DNA would win because it's the newest. A problem continually with out Review of Reviews of the smartphones for 2012 is that devices released around or after Thanksgiving are left out lists because reviewers have not had time to review them.
The top Droid maker is Motorola. When the Droid RAZR MAXX was released earlier this year the battery-life shocked and wowed reviewers who raved about the best battery, ever for a smartphone. Consumer Reports ranked the Droid RAZR MAXX HD the highest for Verizon Wireless.
