A court has ordered that the damages Samsung will pay Apple has been cut to $598,908,892 by around $450 million.
The judge, Lucy Koh found errors in the way the jury calculated damages. She also noted that there will have to be new trials to determine amounts owed on other devices.
During the trial, last summer, Apple said that Samsung's Android OS copied the iPhone, especially the use of icons which turned into a Monty Python-like comedy.
The original trial only included the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but not the highly discounted Samsung Galaxy S III. After the Samsung Galaxy S 4 announcement in March, there may be more law suits however, Samsung has changed many of the features that were considered infringing.
To the average citizen close to$600 million seems like a lot of money, it however is a drop in the bucket for Samsung.
In the past few months in only two prime elite television events Samsung spent well over $25 million. Super Bowl 2012 average cost 30-second advertisement was around $4 million. Samsung Reportedly spent $15 million just to air the 120 second Next Big Thing ad with Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd.
Oscars the average 30 second spot sold for between $1.65 million and $1.8 here at the commercials aired during the Oscars.

A rough estimate shows that one night of ads during the Oscars around $10 million. Then of course we have huge celebrities. LeBron James who makes $40 million a year in endorsements, he got be paid close to a million.
Samsung has huge marketing machine that need to be oiled. The most important number, however is that Samsung amassed $6.6 billion in profits during the last quarter of 2012 a 76% increase from the previous year.
In 2012 Samsung became the market smartphone leader shipping 63.7 million smartphones with a 76% year-over-year change.
